Community Violence Solutions (CVS) is looking for motivated members of the community to join a dynamic group of committed individuals serving on our Board of Directors. The Board is comprised of outgoing, and diverse leaders who encourage like-minded individuals to apply to join the Board . Members of the CVS Board represent a cross-section of concerned citizens who live and work in Marin and Contra Costa Counties.

The CVS Board is charged with the fiduciary duty of fiscal oversight and governance of the organization, as well as spearheading its fundraising efforts. Each Board member is expected to make a personally meaningful donation to CVS as well as raise an agreed upon amount of support annually. These leadership volunteers are passionate about CVS and understand the importance of our mission. It is essential that prospective board members have a clear picture of the services that CVS provides.

Expectations for Board members include:

1. Attending monthly Board of Directors’ meetings – 4th Thursday of each month from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

2. Spending the necessary time each month to follow up on agreed upon duties and tasks.

3. Communicating as needed with other members of the Board and the Executive Director.

4. Attending an annual retreat, and scheduled training programs.

6. Engaging in fundraising activities throughout the year to meet the board member’s personal goals and the goals of CVS.

To be considered for a seat on the Board, you must be a resident of Marin or Contra Costa Counties, be eighteen years or older, and attend two scheduled meetings with a member of the Board and the Executive Director, as well as to attend regularly scheduled Board meetings to meet the Board and share your interests and experience. Previous board experience is not required, but is a plus.
